Moon

via
"My darling,"
She let her tough walls fall when they were alone.
She enveloped the child in a warm hug.

"No other mother loves her daughter
as much as I love you,"
she whispered.

And the owl's wings flapped,
its backdrop the milky moon
and the yellow stars

It was so near, yet so far;
almost like you could capture the moon in a fist.
But not quite.

The girl's merry little laugh
and innocent twinkling eyes
spoke what words could not.

Wrapped up in her mother's arms,
the moon her spotlight,
she was content.

"I love you."
